We believe that being responsible about resource use and operating in a sustainable manner to protect the environment are about more than just keeping up appearances — these are the foundations of any modern business activity, particularly in the transportation industry. Many of the policies we’ve adopted to conserve resources such as choosing re-usable pallets or relying exclusively on trucks that fulfil Euro 4 emissions standards, for instance, we feel are just the bare minimum. So of course we didn’t stop there. Instead of oversaturating the market with more and more trucks, increasing the number of empty kilometres driven, we’ve developed an intelligent e-procurement strategy that gives us a perfect overview of the daily capacities available throughout the entire European market. The considerably improved vehicle utilization we are able to achieve with this system leads to a direct reduction in the number of empty kilometres driven, and thus the emission of pollutants such as CO2. It’s the right thing to do for us, for our customers, and of course for Mother Nature.
